Software such as CAD and Rhino are used to create 3D models and these become the basis for all the tweaks at various stages. It’s still important to sketch with a pencil at the start as it’s the quickest and easiest way to sketch the basic shapes and lines of a yacht.
Although programs can replace drawing with a pencil as well these days, depending on the designer.
