    Displacement = lightship + deadweight.

    Displacement: The displacement is the weight of the volume of water displaced by the yacht. One could also say: the displacement equals the total mass of the yacht.

    Lightship: is the weight of the yacht without crew, passengers, stores, fuel and cargo onboard.

    Deadweight: the mass of all the crew, passengers, stores, fuel and cargo.
